St Louis
I went to my new hire training at our office in St. Louis and stayed for the weekend with my start class. It was our first real business trip working for the company. We were all pretty nervous about expenses, but we also wanted to have a good time.
The Gateway Arch
One of the days after our training, we decided to go inside the Gateway Arch. The Arch is 630 feet high, and it is made out of stainless steel. It is the world’s tallest arch, and the tallest man-made monument in the Western Hemisphere. We took these little teeny tiny carts up to the top, and then had the most incredible view of the entire city. I would not recommend riding in one of those carts if you have claustrophobia. It was a pretty amazing view though, and for me it really cool that our St. Louis office building is right there and you can see it from the top.
Busch Stadium
We went to two baseball games at Busch Stadium to watch the St. Louis Cardinals. Casey came down for the weekend, and at one of the games, we sat in the first row, and one of the players gave us a baseball. That was my first time watching a professional baseball game anywhere besides in Detroit. It was still really fun to watch the game even though it wasn’t the Detroit Tigers.
Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis
The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis is also known as the Saint Louis Cathedral. It was one of the most beautiful Roman Catholic Churches I’ve ever seen. I bought a beautiful pink rosary to keep from there. There are over 80,000 square feet of mosaic tiles created by over 20 artists over 75 years. It is absolutely incredible to see. I lit a candle for my grandpa that passed away as I always do in any church that I visit.
